Financial Aid for College

To receive financial aid, students and their parents must file the FAFSA beginning as early as December 1st of senior year.

The FAFSA is found at www.fafsa.ed.gov. For further guidance on the financial aid process, visit https://studentaid.gov/

Some private colleges may also require students and families to fill out the CSS Profile. This can be found at http://css.collegeboard.org

MEFA has a number of tools, webinars, and resources to help students and families through the process.

Triton has partnered with College Affordable to offer FREE financial aid support to our students and families. More info can be found on their website and here in this flyer.

Scholarships

Scholarships may be obtained by applying for national, regional, and college-specific scholarships. Throughout the year, seniors are encouraged to listen for school announcements for upcoming/current scholarship opportunities and/or stop by the guidance office to see what applications we might have on hand. National scholarships can also be found using the National Scholarship Database in Naviance, or using websites such as finaid.org, fastweb.com, www.cappex.com, and bigfuture.collegeboard.org/scholarship-search. Students should also speak directly with the colleges they are applying to for more information.

Our packet of local scholarships for seniors is given out in early February. Directions and details for our local scholarships can be found on our Scholarship Dashboard.

In addition to the local scholarships, regional and nationals scholarships can be found in our google spreadsheet HERE.

Financial Aid Webinars

**MEFA College Financing Webinars: **

MEFA (the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority) hosts a myriad of helpful webinars that guide families and students through the college financing and FAFSA process. All webinars will be recorded and available online for families who are unable to attend a live event. A list of all the webinars can be accessed on the MEFA website. We highly encourage all college-bound students and their parents to watch one of the MEFA College Financing webinars in preparation for the college application process.
