History & Social Studies

The goal of the history and social studies department is to help students develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse democracy in an interdependent world. Now, perhaps more than at any other time in the history of our nation, history and social science knowledge is essential to the education of our youth. Students begin their studies in our department with World History in 9th grade, United States History I in 10th grade, and United States History II or AP United States History in 11th grade. Once students reach their senior year we offer a variety of electives to prepare them for careers, college, and community, such as: psychology, international relations, political science, and more.
